Clean Your Air Conditioner
Summer is here and the weather is already hot and sticky! If you haven’t already, you’re probably thinking about starting up your air conditioning unit. Something to keep in mind is that your air conditioning unit needs to be cleaned and maintained on a regular basis. 1st Choice Plumbing is highly qualified to ensure that your AC is up and running properly, but not everyone can afford to call a professional every time they need their air conditioning unit cleaned and maintained. So, here are a few suggestions to help you keep your unit up to date and in good condition!
- Know your AC! What sort of unit do you have? Knowing the basic ins and outs of your air conditioner will help you figure out the most efficient ways to clean it. Rooftop units are very different form small home units. Check your manual for general information on how to keep up basic maintenance on your AC. If you don’t have your manual, you can find this information online for free.
- Keep your AC clean! Make sure that your air conditioner is clear of any dust or mold that might have collected on it. If you have condensation pans, keep those clean and free of any debris that may clog your system or make it rust. Be careful about what you let sit on your AC as improper care can lead to the internal components rusting and making a much more severe situation when it comes to fixing your air conditioner. You can use a simple concoction of 10:1 water and bleach. 10 parts water to 1 part bleach should do the trick to kill whatever may be trying to grow on your AC – but don’t use anything stronger! Too strong and you risk harming your air conditioner.
