Keep Your Air Conditioner Clean Pt. 2!
We promised another post about keeping your air conditioner clean, and here it is! 1Plumbing knows that sometimes getting a professional to your apartment or business can be tough, so here are a few more tips on how to keep your AC clean and functional without worrying about the cost. Remember that any emergency should be taken care of by a professional, but anything simple like these suggestions can be carried out by the home- or business-owner fairly easily.
- Make room for your AC. Make sure your AC has plenty of room to operate. It may sound like common sense to see it, but you’d be surprised at how many people just assume their AC can work in any conditions. Anything that is blocking your air conditioner can cause problems with its performance, so you want to ensure that there is no way anything can fall against, is blocking, or in danger of falling into the unit itself. Keep all vents clear and keep the space around your outside unit (or the portion that is outside) is clear at least two-feet around it.
- Keep sprinklers from sprinkling on your AC. Your air conditioner is metal, so it stands to reason that if you have a sprinkler that is throwing water on your AC, it’s going to rust. If you have well water, the minerals in it can cause the rusting to happen faster! If you notice any sort of water is getting on your AC unit, move it quickly! Beyond just causing your air conditioner to rust, this will also cause your condenser to work quicker, making it harder for your AC to work. Rust and problems with your condenser might not be in your warranty, either. The best way to keep problems from cropping up is to just take care of the problem as soon as you notice it.
